If You’re Happy And You Know It…

Happiness is a Choice You Make

If you are not a happy it is because YOU choose not to be…. You are in control of your life and the decisions that you make. True happiness has little to do with wealth, possessions, status, or even the position you hold at work. There are people in this world that seemingly have ‘everything’ but are absolutely miserable. Happiness is a choice. Happiness comes from within.

Happiness is Subjective

What makes you happy may not make make someone else happy. You might find happiness in rock climbing while someone else might be afraid of heights and find the idea of rock climbing scary. Happiness is subjective because happiness comes differently to people. Everyone seeks and finds happiness in their own way.

Naturally Happy

Are some people predisposed to happiness? According to studies, researchers have linked happiness to genetics.

“Approximately one-third of our happiness is likely unmodifiable and genetically determined” —Sonja Lyubomirsky, psychology professor

If you are not naturally happy there are things you can do to increase your happiness level just by changing the way you think and the things you do.

Sleep

Sleep plays a major role in your happiness. The body needs adequate sleep in order to function properly. If you’re not getting enough sleep or getting too much sleep (yes you can get too much sleep), you may be subject to irritability, moodiness, and/or an inability to think clearly…all of which can result in unhappiness. To ensure happiness you need to get a good night of sleep.

Exercise

Exercise helps you stay fit but in terms of happiness exercise stimulates the brain to release endorphins which produce feelings of euphoria (its a natural high). By simply doing basic exercises and working up a sweat you can create happiness.

Meditation

Meditation enables a clearing of the mind and has a wide range of benefits. The act of meditating actually stimulates the left side of the brain creating positive emotion in the body.

Questions to Ask Yourself

When seeking happiness in life there are 9 questions you need to ask yourself and answer honestly.

1. What really inspires and engages you?

You may find this question difficult to answer but you need to be very clear about where you get your inspiration from.

2. If you couldn’t fail, what would you do?

The fear of failure and past failures keep people doing things. because they are afraid to fail or they have failed in the past.

3. If you were forced to start over again, what would you do?

Many people find themselves stuck in unfulfilling situations not doing what they want.

4. If money wasn’t an issue, what would you do?

Money is often the biggest obstacle standing in the way of people pursuing their dreams.

5. What is your biggest dream?

There must be something you really want to do that you dream about. Think about it and focus on it.

6. What is the biggest barrier stopping you from following your dream?

Name all of the things that have caused you to not pursue your dreams. These things could be people who do not support you, money, fears, etc…

7. What passion are you afraid of owning or admitting?

Some people think their passion is silly to other people.

8. As a child, what did you really want to be?

Every child has a dream of what they want to be when they grow up. Certainly you had one too.

9. If you knew that you were going to die in the near future, what would you regret not doing?

Many people have regrets when they realize they are going to die real soon. It is often too late for many people to go back and change the things they missed out on.

Once you’ve have answered the above questions you should have a good idea of where to begin your pursuit of happiness.

Happiness

5 Simple Rules To Be Happy

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit but you enjoy the smooth road afterwards.

Don’t stay on the bumps too long. Move on!

When you feel down because you didn’t get what you want, just sit tight and be happy, because God has thought of something better to give you.

When something happens to you, good or bad, consider what it means.

There’s a purpose to life’s events, to teach you how to laugh more or not to cry too hard.

You can’t make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved; the rest is up to the person to realize your worth.

It’s better to lose your pride to the one you love, than to lose the one you love because of pride.

We spend too much time looking for the right person to love or finding fault with those we already love, when instead we should be perfecting the love we give.

Never abandon an old friend. You will never find one who can take his place. Friendship is like wine, it gets better as it grows older.

Fulfillment

“A few years ago, I just thought about winning.  When I won, I was happy and when I lost, I was unhappy.  Now I am happy in my circumstances, even when I lose.  That’s my decision, not an excuse, because I like how I am and what I’m doing.” —Yannick Noah

Fulfillment:

1. the act or state of fulfilling: to witness the fulfillment of a dream; to achieve fulfillment of one’s hopes.
2. the state or quality of being fulfilled; completion; realization: a vague plan that had no hope of fulfillment.
3. the process or business of handling and executing customer orders, as packing, shipping, or processing checks.

Don’t Worry Be Happy

You can’t change anything by worrying. Worrying will not improve your circumstances. In fact, worrying will only make matters worse. The more you worry, the more your mind wastes energy focusing on problems rather than solutions. Worry causes both mental and physical stress which can result in more problems.

Stop worrying.

The answer to your problems lies in your ability and resolve to be happy no matter what. I know that this may seem easier said than done…But it can be done. So how does one make lemonade when life throws you lemons? It begins with your mind, your faith, and the words that you speak.

Step 1
Think or meditate on things that are lovely and pure.
Philippians 4:8

This doesn’t mean think about butterflies and sunny days with pretty rainbows…to a person with problems and seemingly unsurmountable obstacles the solutions to overcoming life’s hurdles are lovely and pure. Wouldn’t it be lovely to solve the problem? Wouldn’t it be pure joy to know everything is really all good? Think about what makes you happy. (Most people are more adept at thinking about what makes them unhappy. The problem is a source of unhappiness so again avoid thinking about the problem). Meditate on the answers to the problems. See the problem solved. The more you think about the solutions the more hopeful you will feel. You may not know exactly how or when the solution will manifest but by focusing on the solution you open yourself to receiving divine inspiration.

Step 2
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

Remember the George Michaels song Faith? Well, he is absolutely right…YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH. I’m not talking about ordinary natural faith…What I am talking about is mountain moving faith. The even though you can’t see it, touch it, taste it, feel it, or hear it but you boldly and confidently believe it, kind of faith. You must have faith that your problems are solvable and that they will be solved. You must be able to believe no matter what circumstances look like, everything isn’t always as it appears. You cannot always rely on what you see, you have to believe without a doubt, and stand on your faith.

Step 3
Speak things that are not as though they are.
Romans 4:17

Your words have creative power, speaking faith filled words can breath new life into any situation. No matter what you are facing the words that come out of your mouth can change your circumstance. I often hear people say that they are broke over and over and they stay broke because who ever without a doubt “…believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:23 This is why it is of the utmost importance that you are selective with what comes out of your mouth. Don’t speak the problem speak the solution. If finances are of concern instead confessing you’re broke confess something like: God is the unfailing, unlimited source of my supply. My financial income now increases…Remember to ask, believe, and receive.

Nothing good ever comes from worrying! Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things…” Matthew 6:34

Don’t Worry, Be Happy Lyrics by Bobby McFerrin

Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don’t worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double

Don’t worry, be happy……

Ain’t got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don’t worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don’t worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don’t worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don’t worry, be happy
Ain’t got no cash, ain’t got no style
Ain’t got not girl to make you smile
But don’t worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down

So don’t worry, be happy (now)…..

There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don’t worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don’t worry, be happy……
Don’t worry don’t do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don’t bring everybody down like this
Don’t worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is

Don’t worry, be happy
