To Make A Difference You Have To Be The Difference

In more ways than I can begin to type… it has been made clear that it is time for me to step up and take an active role in the decisions being made in my community, district, state, and country. My name will be on the ballot on January 8th to represent the 52nd Assembly District as a Delegate for the California Democratic Party.

My personal motto is to “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” My every day mantra is “Lets Grow!”

Someone close to me says they want the Democratic Party to be more aggressive and stop being “punks” LOL, in many ways I understand that sentiment and that’s one of the reasons I’m stepping up. Rest assured, my mama and daddy didn’t raise not one punk!

I don’t care about titles, being politically correct, or whether or not people like me. (You don’t have to like me but you will respect me). I am not a seasoned, poised, or even an aspiring politician. I’m simply Marenda from Compton, a woman of the people that wants the best for all people. Where ever my journey leads me that’s where I’m going.  I don’t care about making speeches and being seen.

I care about the people in my district having a voice in our government, a voice loud enough to make enough noise to affect some change for the better that we can actually see in our neighborhoods!

District 52 includes:

  • Compton
  • North Long Beach
  • Paramount
  • Rancho Dominguez
  • South Los Angeles
  • Watts
  • Willowbrook
  • What qualifies me to be an Assembly District Delegate?

If you want a list of degrees, committees/councils I’ve served on, or Politicians I’ve worked with…you won’t find that here. Those are great things to have but none of them are requirements to represent the constituency!

We need 12 men and women from district 52 that keep their ear to the streets and care about the well being of ALL residents in Compton, North Long Beach, Paramount, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Watts, and Willowbrook. My motives and intentions qualify me. My desire to see the communities in my district revitalized and thriving qualify me. My willingness to fight for what is right and in the best interest of the people in my district qualifies me. My desire to make a difference and to be a difference qualifies me. My commitment to being the change that I wish to see in this world qualifies me. My dedication to growth and my “Lets Grow!” mantra qualifies me. My unique Internet marketing expertise and skill set qualifies me. Last but not least my voter registration qualifies me.

The truth of the matter is just about anybody can qualify but who do trust to make decisions that will ultimately affect what happens in and around your community?

    Who represents you?

Who will help shape and approve the platform of the California Democratic Party agenda with your best interest in mind?

Who will vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures in your favor?

Who will elect Democratic Party officers and endorse candidates for congress, state legislature, executive office that reflect you and your district?

These are all decisions that an Assembly District Delegate will make and this is why you must choose the 12 delegates from your district thoughtfully and carefully. If you are not in district 52 but know people in it please share this. Also make sure you vote in your district to find out when and where see: http://www.cadem.org/resources/assembly_district_meetings

What do CADEM Assembly District Delegates Do?

Help direct the future of the CA Democratic Party.

Assembly District Delegates represent their constituency, approve the platform of the Party, vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures, elect Party officers and endorse candidates for congress, state legislature, executive office. Delegates also attend the California Democratic Party’s state convention in 2011, as well as the convention in 2012.

For Democrats this is an important election because the delegates chosen are being entrusted with making decisions that affect the whole. In order to make sure that your district is represented by a delegates who have your districts needs and best interests at heart, you need to vote!
