On Friday, January 2, 2009 4:47 PM I received the following email:

56th inauguration Barack Obama 44th President
As you know, when I contacted the Congress Woman’s office I was advised to send my travel itinerary immediately no later than Monday, which by the grace of God I was able to do.

On Wednesday, January 7, 2009 11:31 AM I received this email:

56th inauguration

I left Los Angeles January 19th at 6am

wearing 3 shirts, thermals, a sweater, tights, sweats, corduroy pants, 2 pair of socks, tennis shoes, a peacoat, and a huge thick heavy bubble jacket.

“He that can have Patience, can have what he will” — Benjamin Franklin

As time went by in that restaurant we laughed talked, watched, and waited. We are all familiar with that old saying “Good Things Come To Those That Wait.”  Experience teaches me that its true!

We got a really good laugh because comedian/actress Kym Whitley came through for her tickets and was cracking jokes the whole time.

She was very friendly, had a big smile, and seemed like a lot of fun to be around.

Riding The Metro

We didn’t get a full nights sleep but we did have a power nap. We got up and got dressed fast. Layered in pounds of clothes we had no idea what the day would hold. Our big brother Marcus was up with us and drove us to the Metro Station. (Everyone else opted to sleep in and go later). The parking lot was already almost full at 4am. We found a park and made our way onto the train. We were packed like sardines on that train!

Walking To The National Mall:

Once we emerged from the L’Enfant Plaza metro station and got over our initial shock… we were greeted with the bone chilling cold outside and even more shock!  The streets were packed. There were people walking in every direction as far as the eye could see… There were police cars, emergency vehicles, cops on foot, cops on horse, news vans, chartered buses, helicopters over head, and people people people every where and all over.
