Joseph Plazo announced on local CNN that Jobcentralasia will continue to provide premium online recruitment services- still at no cost to employer or jobseeker.
Jobcentralasia.com, an online service, empowers applicants to find jobs in the Philippines, Singapore and Hongkong and has established itself as the leader in the Human Resources industry in South East Asia.
Launched in Feb 2004, the feisty startup now has more than 30,000 resumes of Asians or foreigners that are looking to work in the Philippines, Singapore or Asia. It has already helped more than 5000 people find jobs in the Philippines. At anytime, a job seeker can find an average of 10,000 or more jobs listed on the site.
Before the launch of Jobcentralasia and recruitment portals, the employment process in ASEAN nations was messy, un-coordinated, and often tied to networking. If you did not know the right person in the Philippines, it was very difficult to achieve the position you wanted. Even Janitors needed inside contacts. As a result, firms often hired people they knew rather than the most qualified person. It’s a fact of life in developing nations. Barring an efficient way to search for the right person outside of their own network, hungry job seekers did not have a choice.
Joseph R. Plazo is the CEO and co-founder of Jobcentralasia. He explains to CNN: “Before online recruitment portals, people used to pay tuktuk drivers or jeepneys to drive them across the metro so that they could pass resumes to companies. Drenched in sweat and burnt by the sun, only a handful received a call and it was an expensive process. With Jobcentralasia , they skip the hard part and connect with companies from the comfort of their armchairs. Firms, on the other hand, use the built in psychological profiling, fuzzy logic matchin and resume robots built into the upgraded 2012 systems of Jobcentralasia. While most sites charge $120 to post jobs or $5 for applicant membership, Jobcentralasia.com offers its services absolutely free to applicants and companies. The firm had been and will always be non-profit.”
Mr. Joseph Plazo is proud that he is able to help people in Asian land employment. “The other day, a woman sent a photo of herself sitting in a receptionit’s chair, and thanking the entity for finally getting her a job after 3 months dry spell. She received a call from an employer three minutes after she had applied for the position on Jobcentralasia.com. Two days later, she got the job! This is unheard of in the Philippines.”
Jobcentralasia.com opened its doors to foreign talent living abroad allowing them to move into Asia where the Euro and Dollar is stronger. Charles Roberts is an ex- Councilor from the EU states who sought to retire in the paradise of the Philippines.. He is now working in Cebui: “Thanks to Jobcentralasia.com, I was able retire in a country that’s simply paradise.”
Under Joseph Plazo’s watch, Jobcentralasia keeps growing at a great pace. Their website receives thousands of views a day and grows ever more partnerships with companies in Philippines, Hongkong and Singapore . It is the aim of Jobcentralasia.com to stamp out unemployment, contribute to the economy, and bring people’s lives back in order.
Joseph Plazo offers this advice to applicants: “Do a background check on companies you apply to. If the offer sounds too good, or they demand an upfront fee to apply, chances are they are a scam. You will find a great career- but only after due diligence.”
