Admittedly, the immense popularity of solar power nowadays is largely due to the fact that it can save money on your monthly utility bills, although of course this is not the only reason why more and more people are turning towards solar power.
Knowing these reasons can help you see why so many people are choosing to use this type of power for their homes. Here are the reasons why residential solar power is so popular.
One: One of the reasons that residential solar power is a good idea for a lot of people is because once you get it installed, it is pretty much maintenance free. This means that the upkeep of your solar power will be very low.
Two: Solar panels are known for having a long life span, which means that you wont have to replace them all the time. This will save you money in the long run.
Three: Because modern day solar power panels are available in every conceivable size and shape, they can be fitted to your home irrespective of your house design.
Four: Not only has the cost of solar power become more affordable in recent years, but the cost of oil and gas has increased steadily meaning that more and more people are seeking alternative energy sources.
The sun can give you all the energy you need for your home and will then convert that energy to electrical power using generators. This is a much cheaper way to power your home with electricity.
While the reasons listed above are for the most part, the most important reasons for most people, they are certainly not the only reasons why solar power has become so popular. Of course, while it does pay to be familiar with these reasons, one also needs to take some other factors into consideration.
For example, does your home get an adequate amount of sunlight? Of course, it only stands to reason that if your house is mainly in the shade or if you live in an area where you experience a lot of cloud cover, then solar power may not be an ideal choice.
So, you have to take the weather and how much sun your home receives into consideration because this will make a difference in how well it works to provide energy for your home.
Two: You have to take into consideration your local ordinances. There are some cities that will not allow you to use solar power. So, check with your neighbors and check the laws regarding this before you decide to use residential solar power.
These are the most important factors to take into consideration before deciding to use residential solar power for your home. Now that you know the reasons that so many people are using solar power and the important factors to consider, you can make an informed decision about whether this is the best choice for you. It is for a lot of people, but not for everyone.

Hi Ileana!
Solar energy sure is becoming a viable option in many states across the country. A lot of states sure still have a long way to go though! We published a state by state solar report card a few weeks ago. We hope your readers get a lot from it. Hopefully those in less solar friendly states nag their legislators to get on the bandwagon.

Solar power is definitely on the prowl for growth. It's been at it's infancy stage for some time now and it's now time for it to start taking off.
There are so many new solar technological advances being explored now. And residential solar power is starting to take off.
Many more homeowners are starting to invest in and seriously consider the impact the solar will have on their life and their household. Couple the fact that cost of electricity going up, and the cost of solar going down with the fact that many people are starting to live a little greener, and you have a catalyst towards an increased use in solar power.
Thanks for the post!
