I'm astonished that no one has mentioned my obvious treatment: after bowel movements, always flush away the residue with water, using a bidet or similar method. I've found it to be the surest way of relieving pain, itching and odor and giving the sores a chance to shrink. It's the only thing that's ever worked for me.There are many bidet-type devices, both fixed and portable, available online in all price ranges. Years ago I designed a foolproof one that I call FLUSHITOFF. I sell copies on eBay for under $30.
