Look for something fun and Green to do this weekend in the L.A. area?
My friend Leslie is a Health Wellness Advocate from www.FountainToWellness.com , she just gave me a heads up on an event she’s participating this weekend:
Over 20,000 people expected at Venice Eco-Fest, LA area’s biggest free green festival, at Venice Beach on Saturday, June 27.
Anjelica Huston to serve as Grand Marshal of the “One Planet” Parade, with hundreds of participants using non-fossil fuel energy as their power source.
(Venice, CA – June 2009) Venice Eco-Fest, the Venice Beach Music and Arts Eco-Festival, returns on Saturday June 27, 2009 from 10am-6pm at the Venice Beach Plaza and Recreation area at the end of Windward Avenue. It will include over one hundred and fifty booths, a solar sound stage, the Fat Tire Beer Garden (on Windward), a cooperative community art exhibit, an international vegetarian food court and an interactive children’s and family art and play area.
A major highlight is the “One Planet” Parade, celebrating sustainability and the unity of all sentient beings. The Grand Marshals for the Parade will be City Councilman Bill Rosendahl and Academy Award Winning Actor Anjelica Huston.
The theme of the Parade, which will be leaving at 12:30 pm from the parking lot at the end of Rose Ave, is to encourage Green Travel, including electric cars and carts, bicycles, tricycles, unicycles, skateboards, leg scooters, roller blades, people movers, rickshaws, wagons, and other means of alternative travel (non-fossil fuel) yet to be seen by the human eye.

Another highlight of the Venice Eco-Fest is the solar powered sound stage, with a full program of performers, dignitaries, celebrities and environmental speakers. Speakers include Oscar winning actress Anjelica Huston and Councilman Bill Rosendahl. Bands and performers include The Super Broke Brass and Tin and String Marching Band, The Luminaries, The Backboners, Stefani Valadez Ensemble, Lisa Haley and Zydekats, The Vegan Vixons, Crystal Davis and the Family Love, the Bhajan Band, Ya Harissa Bellydance Theater and The California Dance Institute.

In addition, there will be up to date info and exhibits on alternative energy, electric cars, and other environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as a variety of green technological displays, all spreading new ideas that can show us how in our daily lives we can help save energy, money and our planet.
