One of the popular fad diets in Hollywood was the grapefruit diet. It dates back to the 1930s, and many Hollywood stars of the time swore by it. It remained popular until the mid-1970s, when it became one of the diets that was sent from fax machine to fax machine, creating a phenomenon known as xerox lore. The diet is credited to the Mayo Clinic, which clearly states that it has nothing to do with the diet and that this diet is not healthy.

There’s probably no need to tell you of the importance of using renewable energy sources. When we don’t pay attention to how our energy is produced, we continue to meet our needs for energy through unhealthy means which harm our environment and our bodies.

In breaking the world record for the 100m sprint in Beijing, Usain Bolt completed the distance in 9.69 seconds. Not since Carl Lewis has a sprinter been this dominant and so far ahead of the field. Yet in 1984, Carl Lewis ran 0.3 seconds slower than Bolt in winning his gold medal – that would have put him about 3 meters back from Bolt. In fact, all but two of the eight finalists in Beijing would have beaten Carl Lewis. This doesn’t take anything away from Lewis. But it tells us how far we’ve come in understanding the kind of training required to reach optimal physical condition.

As I approached the mall near my home I looked at my watch and saw that it was about lunchtime. I figured that I’d head over to the food court to find something good to eat. Once I entered the food court area my senses were hit with all types of aromas coming from the different kitchens as well as proclaimations of great deals and fee samples from every employee. I’d say that it only took about 3 seconds for me to be solicited by every restaurant owner in the court.
