Being called for a job interview can be really vexing. I just wanted to share some quick tips on how you could easily better your fortunes and centre your nervous energy
Practice
Ask a friend or family member to hold a practice interview for you. It will give you the chance to answer questions under testing circumstances and help improve your confidence levels
Hone Your Skills
Your job is to ensure that through your answers, you let the interview panel know that you meet their needs. So prepare your replies to the commonly asked questions and practice letting facts slip out that give the interview panel the idea that you are the best fit for their needs.
Get in the Zone
Get your clothes ready before the interview day. Wear a suit. Ensure that you smell clean and are neatly dressed.
Be On time
It’s career suicide to arrive late at your interview! Plan to get there about 10-15 minutes before your alloted time. This gives you some time to buffer any unexpected delays in the traffic or from late trains, etc. Download any maps that you might need before the day.
Stay Calm
During the job interview try to relax and stay as calm possible. Take a moment to regroup. Maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Listen to the entire question before you answer and pay attention – you will be embarrassed if you forget the question!
Show What Your Know
One of your major outcomes from your interview is to sell your candidacy to meet the needs of the company. Relate your skills to the essential and desirable criteria in the job description.
Write, Phone, Stay In Their Minds
A good idea is to drop a thank you note to the various people involved in your selection interview – including administrative staff. Use this opportunity to state your interest and what your main selling points are.
