Fuel

I received this from Dan Karpf. Thanks for sharing Dan :)

Dear Friends,

I never write e-mails to recommend a film. At least I haven’t till now.
I would like to very highly recommend to my great friends in the Greater L.A.
area……to go see the fabulous Documentary Film……..”Fuel”
that is playing this weekend,
in Santa Monica at the ……..AMC Lowes – Broadway 4 Theater
located on the south end of the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

It won 1st Place at the Sundance Film Festival………..
the prestigious Audience Choice Awards. It is inspirational. And it
is powerful. And it is meaningful. And it also brings people together and
inspires them in a positive and helpful way.

It is a powerful film for our times,,,,,,,,

And again I must say: it is an experience…….
and it is an artfully crafted and created film.

I would ask, if you are able to, and if you feel the inspiration and excitement
from me……..that you consider going to see the film this weekend.

Now why am I asking you to go this weekend?
Because the film makers, whom I have met, are trying to pick up and
promote getting National Distribution of the film……………..through a grass roots
and people to people……..and e-mail campaign effort.

National Distribution of a film requires about a $10 Million commitment by the
“film distribution Industry”…………..and even though the popular documentary
“An Inconvenient Truth” made lots of money….and had a needed message,
in these tighter days…..they are hesitating and waiting.

So the creative Filmmakers are trying to encourage and pick up promotion
through a grass roots effort. And…….cool……it has started working.
They started at the AMC Lowes Broadway 4 plus one other theater with
just a one week commitment from the theater owners…………and it has had good attendance and been held over now for 4 weeks. Other theaters are starting to pick it up
now in a few other parts of the country……….and if their grass roots
promotion can demonstrate numbers of viewers for just a few weeks more……they
will reach a threshold and it will go Nationwide……..

And the films important and positive message will get a wide viewing and have
positive results.
We need winners right about now. Positive and strong messages.
So I would ask you and urge you, if it is possible……..to make time this
weekend to go see the film “Fuel”.

The filmmakers will be there in person after certain showings for Q & A.
They’ll be there for:
4PM Showings – Sat. & Sunday
7PM Showings – Friday & Sat. Night
and the film will play through the 11th

ALSO: Look for showings coming to other Cities
and pass the Energy on.

Wow, I hadn't heard about this film before I saw your post.. I wonder why, because it looks awesome! I hope they do a bigger release of it. I find alternative fuel ideas quite creative, some of them very fascinating. Awesome little post here Marenda. :)

Very interesting movie or show huh. I like former pres. Clinton. What is his role here? May be he is an "Al Gore" in the making too.

Now that gas prices are down again, people seem to have forgotten about the issue somewhat. More than ever, we have to keep this issue hot so we can move away from oil dependence. I'll be in LA this weekend, so I'll definitely check it out.

What a great cast in the movie. There are some real heavy hitters of our time in there.

Great movie though. I just wish this would reach to those millions of people who keep hitting the gas even when 3 minutes are pending on the traffic lights. Thanks for the movie

Is it a low budget film ? Because i couldn't find much about it …

Looks like this could be an 'Inconvenient Truth' for 2009 – thanks for highlighting it, and I wish the producers luck with the distribution – keep up the good fight!

This film is needed, I am glad that you are shedding light on this film instead of the typical blockbusters that we all tend to focus on.

Though I haven't heard of the movie, the message conveyed is so true. Saving fuel should be the top priority these days.

Fuel was an amazing movie. I've seen it at Sundance Film Festival and it's no wonder it won – there was no competition for it.

Michael April 2, 2009

No matter what the message of the film is, saving fuel is one of the most urgent things to do.
