Perhaps I’m delirious from all of the Theraflu I’ve taken today so forgive me in advance… I’m not happy with what’s going on with breast cancer patients and patients in general…
Its disgusting that we would even have to make sure that women fighting Cancer don’t have to fight with insurance companies… I received an email forward (enclosed below). It brought me to tears literally!
Why in the world are insurance companies forcing women to go home immediately after having a mastectomy? It seems like an inhumane practice. Back in the 70′s my grandmother (on my dad’s side) had a mastectomy (she later died from Cancer when I was 1). They didn’t kick folks out of the hospital back then. I can’t imagine how she would’ve been able to tend to her family immediately after having her breast removed! What is a woman to do these days if faced with having to go through such a procedure only to be booted out of the recovery room with a list of instructions.
Back in the day humans ran hospitals. Humans cared about the overall well being of fellow humans. When a human went to a hospital that human did not leave until that human was better. Humans were not simply patched up and sent home to recover. Humans meticulously cared for and watched humans around the clock to supervise recovery and take action in the event of complications!

Now everything is so assembly line, robotic, business as usual, get in get out…. Going to a hospital now is almost like taking your car for a tune up. Everything is so impersonal. Bed side manner sucks. People just don’t seem to care any more… or maybe people are forced not to care any more based on all of the restrictions and requirements dictated by the insurance companies. I’m convinced that these companies are run by A.I. (artificial intelligence) how else could they treat human beings the way that they do? Why are we allowing it more importantly.
When and how did we slip into The Matrix? The “Agents” have taken over. Agent Smith and his cohorts have clearly taken over all things related to health care from insurance to pharmecutical drugs. The resource that the agents are after is money. They don’t care how they get it. Their plan seems to be to get as much money as possible and render the least amount of services possible.
Why the hell are people forced to pay these outrageous bills every month for health insurance and when its time to receive services those same paying customers are told insurance doesn’t cover this or that or they are told they must leave the hospital in x amount of days etc…etc…
You pay for a service every month that you may not even use but a few times a year and its like the insurance company bends over backwards looking for ways to not meet your needs! Its crazy.
I want to meet the guy that makes up all of these rules. Who is the guy that says women should be sent home immediately after a mastectomy? Who is the guy that says Viagra is covered but birth control is not?
Who is making up these rules and why are we not doing something about it?
This is exactly why I hate the whole medical insurance and health care system here in America. Michael Moore said it best with SICKO.
It seems like its set up to to work against rather than for people. It seems like the insurance game cares more about money than they do about the health and wellness of people. It is not a people first system, it is a show me the money system. Insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves but I suppose they have no shame as they laugh to the bank. We can send people to outer space, access the internet via phone, clone sheep, and choose the sex of a baby but yet there is no cure for Cancer? Call me a conspiracy theorists if you like, but if you add up the amount of money spent each year for cancer treatment, cancer prevention, cancer related surgeries…. its a lot of money. With that stated, I don’t think “they” want to find a cure!
If all of a sudden we had a cure for Cancer who would be out of a lot of money? What industries would suffer? There is no money in finding cures for diseases (Dis Ease). There is money in finding ways to live with disease. Who ever runs these companies is more concerned with profits than they are about people. Whatever it takes to make more money and spend less money even if it means pushing women out of hospitals to soon!
I really want to meet the guy behind all of these rules. I know its a man (or Agent Smith) because if a man has to have his testicles removed the man stays in the hospital a few days but a woman having a mastectomy is practically shoved out of the door!
Here is the Email Forward that sparked this (thanks for sharing this Shonda)
This one is quite different…it gives you the website for signing the petition!
From a nurse:
I’ll never forget the look in my patients’ eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the Doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn’t grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet ‘Thank You’ they muttered. A mastectomy is when a woman’s breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a Mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let’s give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.
It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it! Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times.
If you’re receiving this, it’s because I think you will take the 30 seconds to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There’s a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It’s about eliminating the ‘drive-through’ Mastectomy where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Lifetime Television has put this bill on their Web page with a petition drive t o show support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE!!
Sign the petition. You need not give more than your name, state, and zip code.

This takes about 2 seconds. PLEASE PASS THIS ON to your friends and family, and on behalf of all women, THANKS

This is disgusting. Even doctors are finding that they are losing the satisfaction of helping people heal. It can't be fulfilling to treat human beings like cattle.
This is appalling. Not just from the physical perspective. But because of the huge physcological trauma they have suffered. You cannot just throw people out on the street like that and expect them to get on with it
No, you are not delirious, it's pathetic. It's becoming like a damn assembly line to have medical services taken care of anymore.
The review was good. I like it. In future this post is encouraging me to publish more and more books on this topic. Thanks for the support.
Nice Article. This can be a great resource for the older blogs that need to make some changes. Looking forward for any new concerns in future.
Today business is growing vastly through out the world. People not sitting ideal and doing some thing or the other business. We should encourage them.
it doesn't look nice. they should be treated better. knowing that their breast is removed because of cancerous cell it's bad for them. they should have time to rest. it is very depressing for them. they should act on this and give them time to recover.
It's all about the money. Nothing else matters. If these crazy insurance companies would relax just a bit, people wouldn't get as sick, but they are constantly nickle and dimming everybody. It drive me nuts!
I don't know why hospitals and insurance companies need to be in bed with each other. Why can't people just be human and take care of each other?
nice article i find some good material to read after many days. and i will wait your next post
Yes, this is disturbing. Even in my country. System in organization is meant to improve things. However, its kinda make the process a lot harder and we suffers from it most of the time.
Marenda, thanks for very instructive subject. I knew some interesting and useful facts about breast cancer.
Excellent info Marenda, it's a sad state of affairs when money and greed rule over peoples basic health needs and rights. I was horrified when I watched the Sicko documentary and so was my wife.
Gosh, I don't know what to say other than unbelievable! You're right, "they" don't want to find a cure.
Herbal for Breast Cancer, Cure It with Tapak Dara (Catharanthus roseus)
Nice post, this really happens in some other countries..
yeah you are right, great info so this really happens?
Agree that insurance company are always finding excuses in compensating the family members that needs the money. They will say how good the insurance are but when we are in need, nothing is payable. They come up with all sorts of insurance so that we will buy from there for different diseases. This is outrageous!
Knowing that their breast is removed because of cancerous cell is very depressing…I don't know what to say other than unbelievable!
Its a very appealing post about breast cancer. My friend is also suffering from this. We really need to find a cure for breast cancer.
For intelligent people always able to take their insurance cover but those who are suffering there is no help extended….Its disgusting that we would even have to make sure that women fighting Cancer don’t have to fight with insurance companies
Sad stuff, any cancer is sad and heart breaking, especially when it strikes the ones dearest, even worse when you can't even rely on hospitals to look after you or your family … I am glad I live in Aus' where we have a pretty good medical system in place.
Some very nice people I know got affected of breast cancer and eventually succumb to the disease. I do believe they should be given care to give them a chance to living a longer and more wonderful life.
That is really very disgusting. One of my friend died due to this disease. Special acts must be applied to cure the patients of breast cancer to save the innocent lives.
Awesome! thats what you call an insightfull post.
One particular cancer frequently occurs with women: Breast cancer.
Have re-read it a few times to remember. Thanks for interesting article.
It is outrageous how insurance companies control us. Genentech has information on treatment and research in cancer.
An excellent resource of information i will certainly return to check on the latests posts
This is terrible. I have no words!!!! Patients that need treatment should not be treat like this!
thanks for exposing this great injustice! really an eye opener for those concerned with the current state of health care.
As I am reading this I am crying…Because my mom who is 66 years old had her breast removed yesterday and they sent her home today…Not to mention she is on dialysis 3 days a week . She told me she did not feel ready. I know it is the insurance company. I think having a breast removed would be worse trama than having a baby and I have had 4 . Something needs to be done about this.
great that was interesting article.
thanx for your information…,
keep giving the best for readers
Nothing is perfect ..
thanks for sharing. Lets raise our awareness from the disease to the people in general…
Oh my, I can't believe this, it is insane….
a very good article, I am very grateful
with you, and hope you give other information.
This information is very compatible with my brother diseased breast cancer
nice article, thanks for you
I must say that I completely agree with the you when saying how insurance companies should be more human. Unfortunately, they are far from that. It seems like all they care about is making profits.
I can not even imagine how hard it is to have to fight with cancer that is why I wish all who are suffering from it fast recovery. Good luck!
GOOD ARTICALE … But its quite ironic…… that yet doctor are finding that they are losing the satisfication of helping people heal.
we should take a serious on this and We really need to find a cure for breast cancer. ….

This is terrible…. what to say i have no words to say really…… I really agree with you that they should be treated well.
a very sad but realistic thought. thanks a lot for sharing your ideas and thought on this matter.
health care now a days has been very much modernized and had been mixed with business already, and i couldn't agree more that this should have been objected by us. sickness for women such as cancer or any diseases should always be considered because nobody wants to have something threatening their lives. what they are doing is inhumane and very much unfair. we all know life is unfair, but people like those really made it worse.
Definitely disturbing. The first-hand account from the nurse was heartbreaking. Women going through this deserve so much more.
