Today is my 34th Birthday so naturally I’m feeling extremely nostalgic…
Thanks to Facebook I’ve reconnected with so many people from elementary, junior high, high school, and college. The power and reach of Facebook is amazing! My friend Kelly and I thought it would be cool to get everyone together for a reunion…not just a reunion but The Ultimate Reunion….not a high school reunion…but a junior high school reunion.

I know it sounds crazy BUT we went to one of the best junior high schools in L.A. (I’m not just saying that, it’s true). We had wonderful teachers and fabulous students! (Did I mention our drillteam was #1 every year that I was there lol). The friendships and bonds established in junior high school have proven to be lifelong.
Everyone in our junior high school (for the most part) were very tight knit. Yeah we had our cliques but some how some way we were all like one big happy dysfunctional family. We were like The Breakfast Club! It’s difficult to explain. What junior high did I attend? Emerson Junior High School in West Los Angeles! (It’s now Emerson Middle School).
When I checked my email this morning the first message I had was from our reunion site (MyEmersonReunion.com). It was a message from a classmate wishing me a Happy Birthday (thanks Krishna)! I was so moved and touched. I’m excited about this reunion. I didn’t realize how much work would go into planning it but I know that it will be worth it. Our Facebook group has grown to over 900 members. We created the MyEmersonReunion site which is also growing fast.
I realize that not everyone had a memorable or enjoyable junior high experience. I’m blessed in that mine was so awesome that I’m happily going back down memory lane
Not just with classmates but with teachers too. I recently spent a day with one of my favorite teachers from junior high (Ms. Dooley). I had the opportunity to thank her for being such a great teacher and mentor.
The reunion is on April 18th 2009. We are still looking for some of our classmates that are M.I.A. So if by chance you went to Emerson we are looking for you too!!!! If you happen to know any teachers that taught at Emerson between 1980 and 1991 we are looking for them too. Please send them our way
As well as anyone that might be interested in sponsorship opportunities.

The First Ever Official Emerson Jr. High Reunion
Connect, Reconnect, and Make New Connections
With Alumni From Emerson Jr. High School.
Remember Emerson Junior High, before it was Emerson Middle School? The quad, the student store, leadership, drill team, powder puff football games, after school dances, Puttin On The Hits, and school assemblies? We could go on… This is the night, the one night for all of us to go back. To go back to that time and place when everything was just simply all good. This is a celebration of life, friendship, and a stroll down memory lane. This reunion was organized solely because so many of us expressed a keen interest in reuniting. We started with an idea that we thought would be a fun way for us all to connect (reconnect) with long lost friends, acquaintances, and yes, even lovers.
Most of us have been to our high school reunions, basically you know what to expect, and if you haven’t been to one its probably because you weren’t interested in going back to high school; but what about junior high?
There was always something different about junior high school.
This was a time in our lives when we had newfound independence, we were experiencing new feelings, new places and new friends. Many of us experienced a plethora of firsts during those junior high years, like our first crush, first boyfriend, or first girlfriend…etc…etc…
Junior high school played an integral part in most of our lives… That’s why this reunion is different… The Emerson Reunion is a party, like the parties we had in junior high school, where everyone was carefree, danced, talked, had fun, and enjoyed each other’s company. Remember those schoolyard parties and after school dances? We had no worries, no bills, and no time constraints, just fun. We were still a bit naive and very curious. Remember when all you had to worry about was whether or not your report card was ok to take home, or (for some of us) whether or not we would get caught ditching.
The Emerson Reunion is not your typical reunion, because Emerson’s student body was always anything but typical. This reunion is an opportunity to eat, have a drink(s), laugh, and dance, sing, take pictures, catch up, and party with your family from Emerson. Just like old times but better and now we are all grown up! What could be better than remembering all of the fun times you had at Emerson, and now we are all old enough to laugh about the bad ones. One night, one place, for finding your old crew from Emerson, making new friends, and creating new memories we can all share together.
Now that is priceless!

Wow , good luck on your reunion. For me, high school is the best part of my teen life so it's wonderful to meet old friends and classmates again after all these years.
Adjusting towards the life is the main cause of the people to grow in to. Everyone needs to adjust with what ever they get. I think it is been a good study on the human nature as well.
An interesting post.Very fun.
that seems like an awesome idea! keep us posted on how it turns out.
I'm feeling nostalgic and I'm 25. It'a been ages since I saw my colleagues. I totally get you.
I loooove Facebook. I'm so glad you have found a way to use it to bring your group of friends back together. How did we ever exist before the internet?
Good for u!!!
Gotta love them social networking sites
Seems like you had a really good memories of High School and its great to be able to reconnect with old school friends. I have lost touch of everyone from High school but with Facebook, I am now finding friends that I've lost.
I always felt nostalgic but now i am starting to live in my memories and dream of past, and i am only 23 now. Now i am studying and problems are starting to break my head, i always think about past, high school, elementary, and old friends. Everything change, that's life, we need to be OK with that.
Networking sites are great! I have also found a few long lost friends and am looking forward to seeing them at our high school reunions. We all have some stories to share!
I wish I could host a middle school reunion. Great idea using facebook to reconnect. Hope your reunion goes well. Im sure you will be thanked 10000 times for putting something like this together. Great opportunity to find lost friends and make some new ones as well.
I have great high school memories, times were so different then. It's so interesting to see how people we knew in high school change as years go by, keeping in touch is so much easier but it's still nice to see everyone during our high school reunions.
Thank you for your useful info. I think we can find our riends that I've lost by internet.
