Christmas Gifts Made With Love

When it comes to Christmas gifts many people prefer something store bought over something home made. Would you rather have that hot IPOD you’ve been eye balling all year or a sweater your sister spent months knitting?

Personally, I believe its the thought that counts. Nobody owes you anything. If someone uses their own resources to present you with a gift…no matter what the gift is…shouldn’t you appreciate the fact that they even thought of you?

A home made gift means the person took TIME to actually CREATE something with THEIR OWN HANDS especially for YOU.

They may not have spent a lot of money or waited in ridiculous lines to get you the latest greatest gadget….but they did take TIME (the one thing we can neither put a price on or get back).

Doesn’t that count for something?

I believe it does. A home made gift is always made with Love and surely comes straight from the heart. My aunt April says those are often the best gifts. When I was a little girl I always made gifts for my family and friends. Most of the time I had to explain what the gifts were because it wasn’t always apparent (smile). This year I’m going back to the basics…

I won’t be wearing a Santa hat this year…today I’m putting on my Betty Crocker hat and apron to make tasty treats made with lots of LOVE for the ones I love!

Hand made or homemade wins every time unless it is a favorite book. We all look forward to the simple jar of surprises that Mom makes. I wrap them with calendar photos. Most often they are mini candies of some kind. Sometimes a pen or pad or nail clippers slips in and once in a while a couple of quarters. (Like the widow's mite).

Hi Marenda! I really agree with you. Some people are not grateful for home-made or hand-made gifts. I personally prefer to receive home-made cookies for Christmas than to receive store bought gifts that I can't even wear or use. I remember making a huge framed cross-stitch for my mother-in-law for her birthday but she wasn't happy about my gift…and I was so dismayed because I spent almost a year making it, spent sleepless nights just to finish it in time for her birthday, and sacrificed my eyesight because I stitch almost the whole day but still she didn't appreciated my effort…

I wish more people got into it's the thought that counts mentality.

I agree. When it comes to gifts… it's the thought that counts. Expecting someone to give you something you want is rather materialistic? Anyway, we should always appreciate and be grateful for what we have now…

I prefer something hand made or homemade too. If I don't have time to make something , then buy something personalized in their name. I found a great site for personalized gifts it is called http://www.ornamentexpress.com.

In giving gifts, I also agree with you that "it's the thought that counts". Although there are people who, when they received a home-made gift, would frown and roll their eyes. I think these kind of people don't know the real meaning of gift-giving.
For me, I appreciate it if my little brothers would give me a hand-made Christmas present. Like last Christmas, my youngest brother made a Christmas card for me, it was a tacky-looking card and some of his spellings are not correct but I really really appreciate it because I know that even if he don't know how to make a Christmas card, he did push through and spent his time in making it anyway. Until now, the card is still posted in my bedroom's cork board and it puts smile on my face everytime I see it.
