I got wind of this thanks to my friend Rob.
A man returned a pair of shoes to Journeys. The receipt he received back had a racial slur on it. The company claims a former employee programmed the slur into the system without the company’s knowledge. Do you pay attention to your receipts? I bet you will now! This is outrageous!

Looks like a parting gift from a disgruntled employee to me. It is bad that the store had not noticed what was on its receipts but it's an easy oversight and shouldn't provoke an over-reaction. Fix it and move on.
so the company should be boycotted because of the actions of an ex employee?? wake up to yourself, stop playing the victim and start getting on with your life.
the video is not bad to watch.
nice post thanks for the post.
If the employee was fired for the incident I would hate to boycott a whole chain for the event. The lose in business could make other minorities lose their work which is not the effect you want especially if the company righted the wrong.
It was outrageous that someone would do such as act but they acted independently and nobody else should suffer for their small mindedness.
I don't think it was the code. The receipt says (Cust:) with the racial name. I worked in retail before and usually when somebody returns an item, the employee types in the name of the person returning the product(s).
Unless it's a corporate system, the only ones that can change the employee id is the manager.
Wow.. I never knew racial discrimination has gone up to such a level..
Oh come on, like the employ typed in a "random number". I'm getting pretty tired of people hiding behind technology when they've obviously acted like a ignorant bigot on their own.
i never knew racism has reached such an extent. But Obama a black is elected as the president of USA what do you tell for that
They should have a little more control on their employees..

I don't live in the area and this is the first I've heard of this. How sad, especially for the young man who returned the shoes.
i think boycotting the store is an overreaction. as someone above says its probably an underpaid/annoying employee which isnt entirely the responsibility of the store.
im not advocating racial slurs though obviously. its terrible.
The company should ban out these kind of people who are not truth worthy..As the business depends on belief it shouldn't get relieved by any one..
yes try to control your employees.
