My appetite is lost.
My heart aches.
I care.
Am I not Human?
My thoughts and prayers are filled with the millions that are hungry.
A reported 26 children died of malnutrition in Haiti last week!
The world is in panic mode due to the financial crisis. Company CEO’s are flying in on private jets begging for bail outs while maintaining lavish lifestyles.
Today I can barely eat wondering why society as we know it seems so inhumane. What happened to am I my brother’s keeper? Why do we care more about corporations than we do about people?
I wish we all lived by the AllState motto: PEOPLE FIRST!
How can we bail out a company that turns around and buys a baseball stadium and turn a blind eye on the 900+ million people in the world suffering from hunger. We have a major food crisis on our hands and with the prices of food soaring we have countries on the brink of civil unrest because of food shortages.
I know some wise ass some where will say something like but Marenda, “we will always have the poor among us.”
While that may be true it is also written:
“All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.‘ “ — Matthew 25:32-40

I wonder what will be the situation in 100 years or so when the food hunger will worsen. Hunger makes people violent and it will be chaos.
We shouldn't have hunger in Haiti … or anywhere else in the world.
It is sad that we have hunger all over the world. This country has wrong priorities and unless we stand up as a collective body against the bad, it will never go away. Things need to change around here instead of either red or blue. There needs to be real change, not just rhetoric.
It sad to know that around the world people suffer from hunger every day, while some of us doesn’t even care at all. Our government spend lots of money funding the war, if only we spend those money to help those people.
I don't think the rich and general people think anything about these children. They are too much busy of thinking about their own children.
That's very bad !
Marenda, I haven't played the Rice Game in a long time. It's a great way to help even when your own funds are low. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get back into the habit of playing every day.
Nice work man..keep it up.
I'll play the rice game so that in my own little way I can help those hungry. Thanks M for posting this types of topics people must be aware that in some part of the world people suffers.
It's sad to see that almost every country in the world there is hunger.. As a human, I think it's fair to give our share for those needy ones..
Great post and great article.
Here is to great content on the web!
It’s very interesting, thank you so much for writing such an informative post.
Interesting post. The situation in each country is different and sometimes it depends on culture. Some people will never work and sit down waiting for free banana.
It's very informative article.
Hey Marenda,
I wonder if you've heard of the song, "Where Is The Love" by Black Eye Peas because it resonated with the lyrics in the song.
"New days are strange is the world the insane?
If love and peace so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations dropping bombs
Chemical gases filling lungs of little ones
With ongoing suffering
As the youth die young
So ask yourself is the loving really strong?
So I can ask myself really what is going wrong"
Certainly, the starvation issues in the poor countries has been drowned by economical downturns and what not.
And thanks for the freerice ad above. I've played it for a long time and I've managed 300 grains of rice. I really hope more people would play to donate rice for a greater cause!
Nice to meet you, Marenda!

Yup very informative but it's should not end with a comment we must do something with this and we can start within our community, that is to help someone needed it.Thank, may God help those unfortunate one.
It is so sad to know that some people are wasting their food while others are starving. This post is a 'wake up call' for everyone. We should think of others. I really feel sorry about what most of the kids being malnourished and are dying due to hunger.
Information like this can really encourage others to think and act. Thanks

This crises will be for ever since people don't care for each other!
It's not possible in 2009 year that people die of hunger

This really crushed my heart out. How painful to see the reality that evolves the world.
