National Car Rentals was one of the first and is probably one of the best pioneers in the field of car rentals. For over 56 years National car Rentals has been introducing new services to keep its customers happy and is famous for the one way rental scheme where customers drop the car off at a different depot.

To maintain their position, NCR brought in a computer system second to none which has simplified the procedure of renting a car whether online or over the phone. After the airline industry deregulation in 1976, which pushed the cost of flying up, National Car Rentals introduced a scheme where car rental customers paid a flat rate as an incentive to use a car instead of a plane.

Back in the 1970’s, National car rentals was also the first company to have a corporate business account facility. Through this program, National has focused on the corporate traveler more so than any other company and it was also the first in the rental industry to start a frequent renter program. The innovation of having a paperless rental system was also theirs, something that was later called The Emerald Club. This service has been extended so that customers no longer need to wait at the rental counter meaning they can collect their rental car with even fewer delays; it is called The Emerald Aisle program. Being able to have exactly the car of your choice and bypass the rental counter must be every car renters dream and at National Car Rentals that facility is available with two schemes called the Choice Rental Process and QuickRent.

In fact the number of affiliations that National Car Rentals has is growing all the time and just shows how important their customer relations are. These companies include, Air Canada, Air Miles, Air France, Alaska Airlines, Alitalia, America West airlines, American Airlines, ATA airlines, Delta Airlines, Continental Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Iberia airlines, Midwest airlines, Lanchile, United Airlines and Northwest airlines all having frequent flyer and miles programs that can be applied to car rentals as well, some of these airlines even consider national car rental miles, for air miles.

National Car Rentals has not stopped at just airlines either as they have also added hotels to their affiliation portfolio including the Coast hotels group where customer discounts have been arranged.

American Express and Hilton Hotels are another two very large organizations that have made special arrangements for NCR customers.

Aside from all the discounts a features that you will acquire through their affiliates, National Car rentals offer a wide range of vehicles for you to choose from. The classes of cars that you could possibly rent form national cars are endless; the types of vehicles that you’ll be able to rent are classified as subcompact, compact, intermediate, full-size, premium, luxury, sports utility, Mini van and convertible.

Just like other companies, they also have regular promotions and The Last Minute Special is unusual as each NCR office has a different offer on for their customers. Another of these is the Book Ahead Special which gives a discount for customers that book as early as possible online. Using the internet to book your car has meant a whole host of offers with tow other special offers like the previous but one is for sports utility vehicle and mini-van rental with the other for those who only want the car over a weekend period.
