Clambakes have been around for a while now, in fact, they were introduced by Native Americans a hundred years ago. They are more known as New England Clambakes as they originated in the New England area. As Christmas is fast approaching, clambakes would make a great idea for a Christmas party gathering, don’t you think?
The pit was where the first original clambakes were cooked. This pit was dug and on the bottom, a layer of stones was laid. On top of these hot stones, a layer of clams, potatoes, live lobster, and corn husks were placed with fresh seaweed which separates the layers.
The Native Americans would build a huge fire in the pit in order to cook the seafood and fresh vegetables. They would later place the seafood on top of the hot stones when the fire has been reduced to hot ash and embers.
There are actually a lot of places where you can order fresh seafood and shellfish. A clambake may come in two different kinds, the standard and the super deluxe clambake. Both of these kinds have clam chowder, lobster bisque, and some supplies needed for the clambake preparation. With the super deluxe kind, you get more fresh seafood with shrimp and mussels.
The super deluxe clambake for Christmas is typically for bigger gatherings as it has more types of seafood and many partygoers will be able to find something they would like to feast on. With this type, you will be assured that you will never run out of food.
Today, the old fashion method of preparing a clambake has been replaced with more modern and convenient ways of preparation. You can even opt to have the clambake cooked on the grill or on the stove. But if you do have a fire pit, this is truly the best way to cook your clambake meal. Clambakes indeed are great ideas for outdoor Christmas parties which is even more fun during camping. In addition, there would be less cleaning required after the party.
Another good thing about clambakes is that they are very nutritious and healthy as they include seafood and vegetables. No wonder, they are a good idea for a Christmas party as they offer guests a different kind of enjoyment, entirely new from the typical gatherings which usually features not-so-healthy foods.
So how about having the traditional clambake for Christmas celebrations? It would surely make a great conversation starter – as it is not usually done by party hosts. What’s more, the clambake full of nutrients is far superior and interesting than the typical junk food and take-outs people usually have.

I think alternatives to the usual Christmas food are going to be on a lot of people’s minds – credit crunch Christmas equals tightening the belts metaphorically and physically as food cost have sky rocketed.
I agree. Holidays are comming and we don't know what to expect from the next year.
