3 Tips on Why You Should Stop Smoking

Smokers are everywhere. You can see them on the streets, at pubs and even at home, if you have a family member who smokes. The thing about smoking is that not only it harms the smoker but the people around the smoker too.

We, the people around smokers, are known as passive smokers. We don’t smoke but we involuntarily inhale the cigarette’s smoke. This impose dangers to our health as the smoke exhaled is more toxic than the smoke inhale. This is scientifically proven and not a joke.

Passive smokers have a higher risk of getting lung cancer or any other cancers. There is a medical study that shows passive smokers are dying at a faster rate than smokers themselves. There are more passive smoker cancer related cases but very few from the smokers. This is not a lie. It is the truth and reality.

The very first person you put in danger is yourself. You smoke and you know smoking leads to lung cancer. If you are infected with lung cancer, who will suffer next? Your family. This is because they have to fork out the money to spend on your treatments such as chemotherapies will will take months to complete and thousands more to compensate the fees. What happened if your family can’t afford to pay such a hefty fee? These treatments are rare and expensive. The only way out is you will have to live the rest of your lives bedridden waiting for death.

However, don’t just stop there. While you smoke, your family is exposed to the smoke coming out from you. Do you know that the smoke you exhale is even more toxic than the smoke you inhale? I can imagine that someone who has kids playing in the pen while he is puffing away ignoring the existence of the kids.

Another issue about smoking is, do you realised kids like to imitate adults, as the same as mimicking. They see you smoking and they might start to pick up any sticks or pencils to mimic you smoking out of fun. However, as they grow older, it is not fun anymore. They might do it for real. By that time, what is the point of regret? You might wish that you never smoke from the beginning but as your child pick up your skills, it is very difficult to stop them because they will in return, answer this, “You smoke too! Don’t teach us what to do.”

There are many ways to stop smoking. It depends on whether you want to stop or not. To stop smoking is not easy but with determination, I am sure you can stop smoking successfully. There are many resources that recommend ways to stop smoking. I would recommend you to visit i-will-quit-smoking.com to read more about how to stop smoking, the benefits of stop smoking and many more.

Where I’m from, in Eastern Europe, smoking is much more prevalent than in the US. Yet, lung cancer rates are much lower. Why?

That is very interesting, would you please provide a link to this study.

Simple solution: passive smokers should take up smoking, and enjoy the greater longevity of smokers.

  4. Great article. Thanks! Another important issue that really makes me mad is that, when smokers get ill, their families have to suffer with them. A friend died in this way, and his wife and kids had a terrible time watching him die a slow, slow death, struggling for each and every breath.

If you wish – you can quit smoking any time. If you not – …nothing helps :) imho

I disagree with the article. Stopping smoking does not need to be hard, providing the mental attitiude is correct and that can be taught.

All good reasons to quit smoking . Another one, of course, is that you’re going to save money, not only by not buying cigarettes but also on things like insurance. Frankly, the money was the biggest motivator for me when I quit back in February. I found quitting this time was easy, maybe because it’s the first time I quit cold turkey rather than cutting back gradually like I had done previously.

  8. I do agree that smoking is hard only in our mind. On the other hand, those people who complain that smoking is extremely difficult haven't even made a proper commitment. Then, how is it possible to get rid of this addiction if you don't have the proper mindset and attitude I wonder…
