Have you thought about returning to school or entering college for the first time but felt like you were too old? Who said school was just for the 21 and under crowd? Living Life Abundantly is stepping outside of your comfort zone, stepping up to challenges, and living outside of the boxes society tries to place us in.
Going back to school at 40+ may seem intimidating at first, but you are never too old to go back to school.
Nola Ochs graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in General studies when she was 95 years old. Mozelle Richardson graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma at age 90.
If they can do it, so can you. Returning to school is an opportunity to:
- Grow professionally.
- Earn more money.
- Avoid being passed up for promotions.
- Learn new skills.
- Change Careers.
- Discover new career opportunities.
- Meet new people.
- Experience personal satisfaction.
- Accomplish educational goals.
- Set an example for children/grandchildren.
The more you know the more you grow, education is key to living life abundantly.
There are many programs and scholarships for non traditional students. My friend Stephanie sent a heads on the AARP Foundation Women’s Scholarship Program. For more information visit: http://www.aarpfoundationwlc.org

Be encouraged. Set the goal and make it happen. It’s never too late! I did it! Go Bruins!!!!
You are absolutely right. It is never too late to go back to school. To make it easier I would recommend starting out slow with perhaps only one or two classes per semester and working your self up to more.
Congratulation. That sound great. You still have the courage like the teenager.
Great post. Thanks for the information.
Great post. Thanks for the information.
I absolutely agree, you’re never to old to make a change period. From what I hear, life begins at 40
I’d like to add to your post that any education, formal or informal is valuable. You can learn something through mentorship, books, etc.
Also reading more and more about people starting businesses later in life. The appeal of the corporate ladder is waning and people are starting to realize they have the power to feed themselves.
Too many people are taking too many risks. Living Life Abundantly is realizing that your body is your temple. To live life abundantly you must not only recognize your body as your temple, but you must also value and respect life.
My youngest brother delayed his graduation by one year so that he could graduate together with my mother, who returned to school. She was around 60 at the time. It got written up in the newspaper, mother-son graduation.
Very motivating post and it will enhance the confidence. Perhaps we always think that “Time has gone and we can’t do this or that” but there is no specific or fixed time for anything or an even in our life. I am almost 31 and have started my internet career just a 2 years ago. If I would thought that it is too late then i would be doing some selling. I love my blogs and internet, and all blessings.
David, that is good to hear and it will be a milestone. Although it is not easy to achieve that goal but motivation and support can do anything. Many of us have passed that golden era but it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t learn anything.
If you are young in mind no matter how old are you.
Just want to add one point – getting the new knowledges makes life more interesting.
I have thought that no matter what your age you can always go to school and learn more. I think it is modern thinking to go to school to just learn your profession then be done with that for your life and move on, when in all reality people need to learn as much as they can.
Nice post…

I think those people who returning to school with more than 50 years old is quite worshipful. Firstly, they should conquer their spiritual stress, and there're many dificulties for them.
Congrats Buddy..:-)
This sounds very Interesting and I appreciate your Courage and Confidence. I don’t think its too late. Go ahead life is full of adventures, risk and enjoy every little moment.
All the Best
Overall, natural healing therapies are gaining wide acceptance throughout the general public. This is one of the many motivations why individuals might seriously consider a career in natural healthcare. Enrolling in a natural healing school to become a natural healthcare provider is a good start to a long-term, professional goal.
