A Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is granted after one or two years of study at a graduate level institution. Students who are enrolled in an MBA program receive training in the theory and practice of business management. This degree can increase the number of jobs that you are qualified for, as well as your earning potential.

Today, MBA jobs are considered as the hottest among the young business professionals. An MBA degree opens up a new world to the business professionals to get jobs in almost all sectors including marketing, finance, banking, legal, manufacturing, insurance, sales, information technology, and management consulting. It also assists you to improve your ability to become a successful business man and if necessary, to manage your own small business.

An MBA grad that specialized in marketing will easily be able to obtain employment in the marketing field, while an MBA grad that specialized in finance will be best suited for a position in the finance industry. General MBAs, on the other hand, can secure employment in almost any business sector.

This is a great post. I just wanted to add that MBA internships are a great way to help you identify the functional area and/or industry in which you want to work.

As a recent first-year MBA student who was very thorough in my pursuit of any and all opportunities for an MBA summer internship, I quickly discovered how overwhelming the internship search can be when conducting a search in general, but more importantly, when conducting a search online. While there are many job sites and career search engines available, none of them truly focus on the large and consistent target market of internship-seeking MBA students that emerge each and every year. This can be seen in the fact that when an MBA student searches for “mba internships” on popular sites, such as Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com or Indeed.com, he or she must filter through many undesirable search results, including undergraduate internships, MBA full-time positions as well as mass-market job advertisements. This wastes time for the ever-busy MBA student and only adds unnecessary stress to the already-stressful endeavor of identifying internship opportunities.

It was after this discovery that I decided to do something that might make a significant difference for the incoming class of MBA students. I decided to create InternshipGPS, a site on which all MBA internships would be posted after being pre-screened for an MBA education level requirement.

In addition to internship postings, I have also searched and posted some of the best available information and tips on MBA resumes, cover letters, interviews and other internship-related strategies. The great thing about InternshipGPS is that this service is absolutely free!

In my opinion, an MBA is the ideal degree for someone who’s willing to dedicate to education but is unsure about which career they’re going after. Your options are much broader than most other degrees.

The MBA degree is a wide open degree but not too wide open. Of course some places will hire anyone with a college degree but any degree of specialization helps. For example, you can get a job teaching English in South Korea with any degree. Nonetheless, schools are impressed with any specialized degree and / or extra teaching certificates.

Of course, outside of South Korean ESL teaching (with exceptions) you must be able to use your degree to compete. Therefore, all specialized degrees are not the same. In addition, an English degree in South Korea would be more helpful than say a philosophy degree.

I always thought I would get a master degree when I was younger but I don't know if I have enough gas in my school tank to achieve this, at least in the near future. Im pretty sure it would be worth it when everything was said and done.

I think MBAs are needed everywhere, whether it is the technical, managerial or health sector. They have got a wide variety of options to choose from. But, the college or university where you have taken the degree from is also one of the deciding factor in getting a better placement.

There is a big experience and salary divide between those with online MBA degrees (http://www.degreesinbusiness.org) and those that do not – this indicates that there is a clear difference for those who are graduates of an accredited MBA program.
