Should Children Witness Childbirth

Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to a 911 call for Heidi – she was going into labor and was home alone with her 3-year-old, Kathleen.

The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby.

Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked.  Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, little Connor was born.  The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry.

The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year-old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.  Kathleen quickly responded, ‘He shouldn’t have crawled in there in the first place …… spank him again!’

If you don’t laugh at this one, there’s no hope for you. LOL

Thanks April :)

  1. I think as much as possible children SHOULD not witness childbirth. Like what happened with Kathleen it’s not a good thing.

  2. Vouchers says:

No this is not totally tolerable.Children should not witness of childbirth.

  3. Polina says:

Important is not what you see, but how you interpret the things seen:)

Kathleen is a very brave girl I must say, to follow the orders and to not being afraid of mom crying and some strange things happening – it is a very difficult task for a child… If I were her, I would panic:)

  4. A friend of mine as a mom with 3 boys, she showed his 2nd and 3rd boys childbirth to her 1st one. Not exactly, but at least what happened on the spot. Now he’s starting his 6th grade and seems to have a good understanding of what women are going through when it comes to baby and precious birth that comes from God’s love…

  5. It is funny! Otherwise I definitely think that children need to know about those important parts of life.

  6. Money bags says:

Thats awesome. I was all prepped to come in here and present my point of view on the question then laughed and laughed. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  7. feefifoto says:

SOOOO funny! I was caught completely off guard, expecting some serious conclusion.

  8. Porch Lifts says:

    That is funny.

@Andy & Vouchers: Why do you say children should not witness childbirth?

  9. Vishnu says:

That lil kid was too good dear.. spank her!

  10. Monavie says:

I agree with Money bags, I was wondering what everyone else was going to say on the topic. That is pretty funny though. That girl did a great job helping, I dont think it was a bad thing because they had no other help. I have a story like that, my sister showed her 4 year old her pregnant belly, and Abbey responded, “MOM! Why did the baby scratch you? How rude!”

  11. Child Birth says:

LOL, that was classic. And from a child view point that is probably what they would have thought.. Great stuff thanks.

  12. Very funny! Would not take my child into witness a childbirth but in these circumstances it can’t do any harm.

  13. Skin Gal says:

Good informative post. Thanks for the information!
