If you want to know how to trace a cell phone number then chances are you are receiving prank calls, or are taking those calls from sales people that always seem to call when you are busy doing something else. Whatever the reason these calls are causing you some discomfort in one way or another.
Tracing a landline number is easy because landline numbers are in the public domain. But when in the case of cell phone numbers, these have to be compiled and there is a cost to get them from the networks. There are now some good, and some not so good websites that make it easy to find mobile phone numbers.
A cell phone number directory is the answer. These will allow you to do what is known as a reverse cell phone number look up. This sounds rather grand but basically you enter a cell phone number and the directory uses this as its search field and follows the line of information back to the owner of the phone.
You can try and find a cell phone number for free by just entering the number into a search engine and see what comes out.. Sometimes you may be lucky and find the owner of the number has entered it online somewhere for you to find. Perhaps they have used it as a contact number on a social network or even online business networking site.
How a reverse cell phone number works is simple. The better sites will let you enter a number into the cell phone directory before you part with any money. That way you know if there is information before you before you pay. The ones that aren’t so good expect you to pay before you know if they have any information – guess which I recommend? You will then be given a screen showing all the information concerning that number, which will include a name and sometimes an address.
Cell phones are being used more and more partly becuase they are difficult to trace, especially the pay as you go mobiles that you can sometimes purchase without having to give any information away at all.

Yea i went to goolge and typed my cell number in…I was shocked and a little pissed to find that my name and info came up so easy.
I also do not like the gps tracking systems on phones now, my wife will know wherei I am at all times lol
wow great share this information is really great news for me. Thanks for sharing this with all of us keep up the good work.
once upon a time i had considered starting a cellphone directory, you know let people use it if they enter their cell and then prove it’s theirs with a text password but i never got off my butt. thanks for reminding me about it. cool site btw. cheers mije
The ways here given to trace cell phones are boon to the persons who are suffering from “anonymous sms and phone calls and also those who lost their phones.
Good to know.
An excellent service for stalkers. Yet another reason to leave your mobile ‘phone at home.
The ideal case is become a user registered, you save money and your search for reverse phone numbers is often unlimited, depend on what sevice you are members. Bye
Great info. I have done a few reverse phone searches with great success.
yeah my wife subscribed to one of these services cus some a-hole was calling her cell phone every night while I was away and not saying anything
Give it a try it really works you can trace any information you want from any unlisted number.
Great information you shared, never i thought such a searching tool is there.Tracing cell phone really great!!!Its too useful.
It is a little scary to think that people can find out so much information about you using reverse phone searches. On the other hand, when you are the victim of pranks calls, stalkers, etc, it can bring peace of mind … the usually double edged sword of technology.
Google tends to be hit or miss depending on the number. There are several sites out there that are dedicated to debt collector phone numbers. http://www.phone-pi.com will give you the prelim info on any phone number & then you can decide to purchase further info. Hope that helps everyone!
tracing cell phones really helpfull…
This is great information and its great news for me. Thank you for sharing this information with us. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for Sharing the Information It would be of Great help to me…
I had no idea that you could trace mobile numbers. Very cool!
I don't mind telemarketers, but I recently got calls from pranksters. Grrr. Thanks for this.
I confirm that this works. I typed a phone number that kept showing up on my SO's cell phone bill in google and went to some site called http://www.tracethisnumber.com.they gave me some approximate location information (phone number was in Orlando, FL where my wife goes on business a lot.) Curiosity got the best of me and I purchased the premium service and it was one of her co-workers. the guy calls at 11pm our time. I haven't confronted her about it yet but I am going to hire an investigator first.
Reverse phone directories can work great but there are no free reverse lookups for cell phone numbers.
The best reverse cell phone lookups also give you access to other public records to be used to instant background checks.
Great information. Thanks for sharing this with us. It's really helpful.
@ Steve
I wouldn't necessarily hire a private investigator quite yet. There's a couple other sites out there to double-check your information about your reverse phone lookup like http://www.WhatNumberIsThis.com.
I'd hate to jump off the deep end arguing with my wife before I make SURE I have the correct data.
If you have a missed call or a phone call from a number you don't recognize, there are websites that tell you the location and name of the person who called by doing a reverse phone lookup. One such site I've used before is http://www.lookwhocalled.com
Here's a good article about how to run a reverse cell phone lookup: http://www.lookwhocalled.com/how-to-run-a-reverse...
And I also found this good article about how to stop a prank call: http://www.lookwhocalled.com/stop-prank-callers.h...
this is nice article i got more information thank you for sharing the great information with us.
Having a cell phone directory sounds great. This is very helpful especially to those who always get prank calls. I myself hate prank calls and telemarketers calling me when I'm doing something at home.
This works if you're lucky enough that the owner of that cell phone number whose owner keeps annoying you had posted it online.
@ Joseph
That site is a rip off of the site I posted about. Additionally I hired a private investigator to get pictures of my wife with the guy, not to double check the accurate reverse lookup info I had gotten.
