How To Use Your Mind To Get What You Want!

My Grandmother Speaks Wise WordsMy grandmother always says:

“Use Your Head For More Than Just A Hat Rack!”

When I was a child I thought that everything she said was funny, now as an adult I understand the wisdom of her words. I make an effort every day to use my head for more than just a hat rack. For years, I was trapped in the confines of my own mind…It feels good to be free and living life abundantly!

Excuses are for losers. Time out for pointing the finger and shifting blame when things go wrong. We were born with everything we need in life. Seriously. We have the power to think, imagine, and create our own destiny.

Our minds are responsible for so much more than we give them credit for.

“As a man thinketh, so is he.”

“I think, therefore I am.”

You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.

“Compared to what we ought to be, we are only half awake. We are making use of only a small part of our mental and physical resources.

Your mind…

Your thoughts…

Your brain…

Your thinking…

Plays a vital role in how you live and experience life. If your current life circumstances are less than favorable, it’s imperative that you understand your own thoughts created whatever mess you are sifting through. You must change your thinking in order to change your life circumstances.

Step One: Retrain Your Brain

From infancy our minds have been conditioned and trained to believe all sorts of nonsense and things that simply are NOT true. The untruths that we have learned are detrimental to our well being and our ability to truly live life abundantly because they cause limited thinking. We live in a limitless world of infinite possibilities. Limitations are self imposed. We can be and do anything that we set our minds to do!

The process of retraining our brain begins with brainwave synchronization also known as brainwave entrainment.

This is not a new concept, brainwave synchronization goes way back. In fact, it was widely used in African cultures especially during tribal ceremonies, (this is a major reason why US Slaves were kept from using drums or engaging in tribal rituals).

Brainwave Entrainment:
Improves communication between the left and right hemisphere of the brain.

Improves intellectual functioning of the brain.

Improves learning.

Improves creativity.

Improves concentration.

brainwave entrainment giftsLet go of doubt and expect the best possible outcome. The mind has a sneaky way of achieving what it views as fact. If you firmly believe in the best outcome, your mind will automatically lead you to achieving that outcome. Visualize your success in full color with Dolby surround sound. The more detail you see and the more emotion you feel, the more you strengthen your belief in your success.

Step Two: Free Your Mind

So many people are sleep walkers living by default. Minds have been shackled and chained by limited thinking and an acceptance of lies. Today is the day to break free from mental bondage forever. You must know the truth about who you are and what you are capable of in a world of infinite possibilities.

All human physiology is the same. The point is, it doesn’t matter if you’re male, female, black, white, green, yellow, or purple…our bodies function the same and have the same potential and capabilities. Your mind is just as good as anyone else’s!

Throughout life you have probably been called many things. How many times have you been called a human being? That is what you are, but most of the time it is not what you are called. Many of us have gone through life believing and accepting the labels we’ve been given, not realizing that these labels and names are crippling curses of bondage.

Take inventory of the words that have been used to describe you and others:

  • Minority: The smaller part; A group having little power or representation relative to other groups within a society.
  • At Risk Youth: Youth who are exposed to factors that may increase their tendency to engage in problem or delinquent behaviors.
  • Less Fortunate: Disadvantaged, to have unfavorable circumstances.
  • Poor: having little or no money, goods, or other means of support

Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be.

Stop letting the world define who and what you are! When you allow society to dictate who you are, what you are, and what you will be—you give away your freedom. You are a human being with unlimited potential in a world of infinite possibilities, refuse anything contrary.

  • No one is better than you—some people are just better developed and more knowledgeable in certain areas.

Believe it, receive it!

Step Three: Confront Your Fears

One of the biggest obstacles people face in life is fear…fear of success…fear of failure…fear prevents people from realizing their potential. Kiss your fears goodbye. Fear is nothing more than:

False

Expectations

Appearing

Real

Fear comes from expecting something bad or unfavorable to occur as a result of our actions. In order to overcome your fears you must change your expectations! Don’t let your mind run wild with fearful imaginations. If you expect negative results, you will attract and create negative results. Always, always, expect positive outcomes in every situation!

  • “Fear and doubt are the major enemies of great success and achievement.”
  • “Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain.”

Step Four: Focus On Solutions

Most people focus on problems and wonder why their problems seem to grow.

Instead of spending your time and energy on problems, focus your attention on solutions. It doesn’t matter who did what, could’ve, would’ve, and should’ve are out the door. Take control of your thoughts and make it a point to only think about solutions.

When your mind is consumed with problems it will attract and create more problems. I am not saying ignore your problems and they will go away (that’s foolish). I am saying bombard your mind with thoughts of what you want.

Think about and visualize your goals as already a reality, see problems as already solved! Take a mental picture of what your life looks like without problems…These are the thoughts you must hold on too.

Any thought that pops in your mind that is contrary to a living free of problems, is a thought that must be immediately struck down and replaced! You control your mind, not the other way around. You tell your mind what to think and what to accept as truth!

Step Five: Feed Your Mind

Your mind feeds on information. What you see, watch, hear, and listen to goes straight into your think tank and plays a major role in your thought process. Be careful what you let into your thoughts. Make an effort to read, listen to and watch things are in agreement with your goals, wants, and desires, to reinforce positive thinking.

The antidotes to fear and ignorance are desire and knowledge. Propel yourself forward by learning what you need to learn to do what you want to do!

Thanks for the great article! Many of us do not use our brain to its fullest potential. I recently discovered how much I enjoy listening to audio books and audio lectures while driving, instead of always listening to the radio. I drive 40 minutes each way to work, and the radio is just the same songs over and over again. I feel like I have been learning so much, since listening to audio lectures ever car ride.

What a inspiring post! I especially liked the fact that you quoted your grandmother. Too any people, in their mad rush to be modern, forget the simple and eternal wisdom our elders often tried to pass on to us. Many of us would be a step farther, if we used some of the knowledge our forefathers/-mothers gave us as as (strong) foundation for our lives!

  4. Very true. I wish I could use my brain more in my job especially. :)

All that is true. I liked the second step, Free your mind, the most. You should just believe in yourself.

  7. Very good read. I have just recently been getting more into this way of thought. The mind is very powerful, if you just let it be. It even reminds me a bit of the movie ‘The Matrix’. If you can open your mind to new possibilities, they just might come true.

  8. Very interesting resource post. I agree that we need to retrain the mind. Just by starting to observe it (by meditating) this becomes apparent and obvious.

  9. You know that saying “Use it or Lose it!”. It applies to your brain as well. If we don’t take the time to treat and condition our mind we will slowly lose it.

Very inspiring post! I think this will really help a lot of people who need directions in their lives. I totally like the 5 steps you introduced. This could really be helpful in my own personal dealing with my life. I do agree that what we feed our minds and souls affect the way we live. Also being true to yourself is very important, like the way you mentioned that we should not allow the world to dictate our lives. We should learn to be independent and accountable for our own mistakes. Thanks so much for a wonderful post. More power to your site and may you continue to enlighten the minds of your readers!

Marenda, thank you for sharing on the power of the mind. At the beginning of your blog, you quoted one of my favorite scriptures which indicates that we are how we think. Our mindsets can take us far so it's important to have a healthy mind.
