Best Breakfast in Southern California

Yesterday and this morning I had the pleasure of enjoying the best breakfast I’ve ever 500×500_ef9e2f6c79546163e484aaaafd220058.jpghad. My sister called yesterday morning saying lets go to breakfast. I said “ok where are we going,” she said “The Watts Coffee House.” I got dressed not knowing the treat I was in for. I had never been to or heard of The Watts Coffee House.

When I walked in I was immediately impressed by the ambience. From the outside one would never know that a coffee house could be found in the building…(It looks like an office building not a coffee house). I felt comfortable and at home. The staff greeted us with smiles. There was soft old school Soul and R&B playing. The walls are covered with historical pictures, memorabilia, posters, autographs, and awards. The vibe reminds me of a few restaurants and cafes from television shows with a cultural twist.

Think: Rob’s Place from What’s Happening, Mel’s Diner from Alice, The Peach Pit from Beverly Hills 90210, and the cafe from A Different World.

The food was so great I went back with my husband this morning! I attempted to go again with my grandparents for lunch but it was closed by the time we got there. The Watts Coffee House is my new spot!

Yesterday I had chicken, waffles, eggs, and pink lemonade. Today I had chicken, eggs, home made biscuits, grits, and coffee. The menu is extensive so I look forward to trying everything on it! If you’re in the area and/or can make the trip I suggest you do so…It’s worth it. Maybe I’ll see you there :)

  6. It's always those classic diners that make us appreciate our surroundings. I need to go check that place out.

  7. Seems like a nice relaxed change. A lot of coffee houses these days are getting a little too snooty. Do you think the vibe was something that will catch on other places?
