Everyone is familiar with the saying “it is better to give than receive,” but few understand the meaning behind this powerful principle.
Why is it better to give than it is to receive? The more you give, the more you receive. Success and living life abundantly are rewards granted to unconditional givers.
An unconditional giver is someone who gives from the heart because they want to, not because they have to, or because they feel obligated to do so.
When people think of giving they often think money. You do not have to give money to be an unconditional giver.
When you give of your time, energy, resources, knowledge, skills, and/or talents, with no strings attached, you instantaneously set the Law of Giving and Receiving in motion. You become a magnet, attracting success and abundance.
The universal Law of Giving and Receiving is both spiritual and scientific.
The Spiritual basis of The Law of Giving and Receiving:
Whatever you sow (meaning whatever you plant, disseminate, scatter, disperse, or put out), you will also reap (meaning you will also receive, gain, harvest, accumulate, or get back). —Galatians 6:7
The Scientific basis of The Law of Giving and Receiving:
For every action (meaning for everything you do, every act, effort, or transaction), there will always be an equal or even opposite reaction (meaning there will be consequences and/or repercussions). —Isaac Newton’s Law of Motion.
Reasons People Resist Giving:
People often decide not to give because they think they do not have enough to give. They think that if they give, they will have nothing left. This type of thinking comes from limited thinking and perceptions of lack and scarcity.
From a spiritual perspective, if you do not sow, you will not reap. How can you receive anything, if you never give anything?
From the scientific perspective, if you do nothing, nothing will happen. You must take action for something to occur.
The person that decides not to give for fear of lack or fear of loss, will never gain or grow, but will always remain stagnate, keeping only what they already have and never realizing anything more.
There are those that give a little because they fear if they give too much there won’t be enough left. Again, this comes from limited thinking and perceptions of lack and scarcity. The person that gives a little will only receive a little.
Some people understand the basic principle of giving and receiving and simply give to get. This is a perversion of the Law of Giving and Receiving. An unselfish regard for the well being of others is the only motivation behind the actions of unconditional givers.
Your motives and intentions for giving must be pure. If your reasons for giving are for selfish gain, you will most certainly learn the hard way that just as you cannot defy the laws of gravity, you also cannot defy the Law of Giving and Receiving. If your giving is tainted, what you receive will also be tainted.
Change Your Thinking to Change Your Life:
We live in a world where there is more than enough for everybody. Despite what we have been taught or conditioned to believe, we truly live in a world of abundance and infinite possibilities. The only limitations that exist, are the limitations you place on yourself as a result of limited thinking.
“As a man thinketh, so is he.” —Proverbs 23:7
Let today be the day that you let go of thinking that there isn’t enough. How can you live life abundantly if you hold on to the notion that there isn’t enough? What is the opposite of lack? ABUNDANCE! Living life abundantly means knowing and believing that you have and will always have more than enough of everything you need to live a happy and fulfilling life.
Let today be the day that you let go of the “dog-eat-dog” mentality, even the so-called boot strappers received a helping hand from someone at some point. We were never meant to go at life alone, helping each other along the way makes life easier. Caring about the welfare of more than just self gives life meaning. Making a difference in someone else’s life gives life purpose. Giving our best is a gift that keeps on giving.
Let today be the day that you change your thinking by transforming your thoughts and renewing your mind.
Start Giving From the Heart:
When you implement the Law of Giving and Receiving in your daily life, you immediately experience a liberating awareness of abundance. You realize that you can give freely without fear of ever over extending yourself or experiencing lack and scarcity.
Your spirit makes the connection that the same Higher Power that created you, also created everyone else, and we are all therefore connected. This awareness changes how you deal with people. You begin seeing yourself in others. More importantly, you recognize what it truly means to Love others as you Love yourself.
I know it may seem like a strange concept but the more you see yourself in others and the more you relate to others, the less self-absorbed you become. You become more sensitive and responsive to the needs of others, this is what enables you to give from the heart.
Giving from the heart sets off a chain reaction of events including inspiring others to give also (similar to the Pay It Forward concept), which ultimately creates a circle of giving. What goes around in a circle comes back around.
Unconditional givers always receive an overwhelming response of unexpected help, blessings, and support, seemingly out of nowhere and often without even asking. No matter how bleak a situation may look for an unconditional giver, everything always works out and falls right into place at just the right time for unconditional givers.
Those that give willingly from the heart always get back what they have given a thousand fold.
When you give from the heart “it is given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over (abundance) shall men (people/mankind) give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete (whatever amount you give) so shall it be measured to you again (the same you will receive). —Luke 6:38
Giving Produces Spiritual and Personal Growth:
This simple act of giving increases faith and trust in the Creator of all life. As blessings and miracles unfold before your eyes (and they will), you become increasingly aware that a Higher Power is at work beyond your own understanding.
The more you give, the more you will experience joy, love, inner peace, prosperity, and a sense of accomplishment (success). Giving leads to the road of living life more abundantly.
I guess this sheds a new light on the phrase “to whom much is given, much is required.”

Very good explanation about why we should give and give un-conditionally.
But me thinks this is an ideal situation and as such can not be practically implemented. However it is a good goal to work towards.
“An unconditional giver is someone who gives from the heart because they want to, not because they have to, or because they feel obligated to do so.”
How true this is! Wonderful post…and P.S., I’m definitely a giver!
When you give of your time, energy, resources, knowledge, skills, and/or talents, with no strings attached, you instantaneously set the Law of Giving and Receiving in motion. You become a magnet, attracting success and abundance.
There is truth and wisdom in those words You have posted an excellent article of which we should attempt to spread the word

Great message here Marenda. There is world-changing power in the act of giving!
All I have to give is my time
I think when you give and don’t expect anything in return that it just makes the times you do get something back that much nicer.
You have to give from the heart if you set strings thats not really given now is it. I feel i have to give because that’s what make me feel good knowing other will have the info they need to help them come up to I know there is enough of everything in the world and i will get what mine in due time from helping others to help themselves.
Nice post.

clairec23 in many cases TIME actually proves to be the best gift one can give
Very nice blog and very true. In my new book, JESUS TAUGHT IT, TOO: THE EARLY ROOTS OF THE LAW OF ATTRACTION I show how ‘giving’ is part of the Jesus principle of receiving. This blog hits the nail on the head-good job!
Give and it returns back multiplied!
I agree. Well written and well thought out. I love posts with actual substance. Thank you.
This is a well written post . If you are truly a giver , take some times to visit sites like these http://kiva.org
We should give more than take. Give must be from heart don’t intend to get anything from return. But people nowadays take more than give. Well im a giver myself.
Definitely, I like giving a lot more. I like pleasing, but if there is mutual taking that’s okay.
I think this post is very apt as the yuletide season is just around the corner. Where I come from (Philippines, a very christian nation) it’s a very big thing and it’s the time when we actually do our best to be givers.
Nice post.
I really enjoyed this post. I love to give. It makes me feel wonderful to know someone else is the beneficiary of something I had the ability to give. Being a giver seems like such a blessing, keeps us unselfish and humble.
Best one! the post is best of all other..!
so my conclusion is – to be neither giver nor taker, else to keep balance…! yeah!!
But for Today is only Money. MONEY attracting abundance, you and me! so why to be away from it?
Wow, I am new to this site, but there is so much enlightening information! I loved this post, and everything that I have read so far is fantastic! I bookmarked this blog, I'll definitely be back! Keep up the great work!
Very good post. Not many post out there that able to make people realize something and change. This post is definitely changing my life.
I think I'm a taker.
I agree perfectly – this POWERFUL principle – I experienced it….
Superb
You always get what you give….
I am a giver …
superb
It is a beautiful and inspiring message. Those that have not embraced the Principle will do themselves and the world around them a lot of good to embrace it.
yes, I agree with you. Because what you give is what you receive…..
Thanks for the amazing content. I have just told a few of my friends about this on facebook and they love your content just as much as I do.
Keep up the good work!
Wow. Thank you for this reminder. Truly, blessings do bounce back.
I do believe in the laws of reciprocity and yes, giving can be so much more fulfilling than expecting something. Great article!
I agree with this. All of us receive because we deserve it. We receive something because we had gave something.
It's not always good to be one or the other exclusively. I believe there should be a balance. And you don't have to call it 'taking'. You can call it 'receiving'
I truly believe in the law of attraction and the more you give to people the more you shall receive
the more you give the more happy you wi'll be !
I'm a super giver. However, I'll take to give to someone who needs it more then the person I took from….
i am a giver. i like to give more than to receive..there is a different validation in that
There's a quote I always liked that went something like, "The clenched fist cannot receive." Clutching onto something too tightly can keep you from gaining more.
I think I'm a giver because I'm happy when I give and when I help other people.
I guess I am both a giver and a taker – I am not a one-sided person when it comes to that. To be able to build strong relationships with people, you have to develop the qualities of being generous to those who are needy and at the same time appreciative with what other people can offer to you, even the smallest thing you know as long as it comes from the heart.
