The Greatest Love of All

Life is a series of experiences and lessons. We live and learn, we learn and grow. One of the most important lessons in life is learning to love ourselves.

It is often easy for us to point out everything that we do not like about ourselves and all the things that we would change. Many of our opinions of ourselves actually come from other people’s opinions.

We are constantly bombarded with images and standards that we simply cannot live up to. We are all unique. We were never meant to be carbon copies of each other. Everyone has their own look, thoughts, talents, strengths, and weaknesses. Our unique differences are the spice of life. Our differences are not contrary but rather complementary to each other. When it comes to the creation of life there are no mistakes. We were all created by a master crafter that equipped each and everyone of us with everything we need for the adventure called life.

It is time we recover from negative self images.

We must strip away the layers of lies that tell us we are not good enough. We must tear down the lies that whisper we should be more like John or Jane. We are who we are and we will never be anyone else. We must accept this truth and start loving ourselves instead of being our own worse critic.

A negative self image serves as a stumbling block in life because it kills will, steals joy, drains ambition, stifles charisma, chokes hope, and destroys faith.

A negative self image affects how we treat ourselves and how we allow others to treat us. When you don’t love you, how can you expect someone else to love you? If you do not respect yourself, how can you expect someone else to respect you?

“Know that although in the eternal scheme of things you are small, you are also unique and irreplaceable, as are all your fellow humans everywhere in the world.” —Margaret Laurence

“The greatest success is successful self-acceptance.” —Ben Sweet

“There is overwhelming evidence that the higher the level of self-esteem, the more likely one will treat others with respect, kindness, and generosity. People who do
not experience self-love have little or no capacity to love others.”
—Nathaniel Branden

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love & affection.” —Buddha

Our lives are reflections of our thoughts. The journey of living life abundantly demands that we change our thinking to change our lives. We begin the journey by changing how we think about ourselves. Love Yourself and know that you are worthy of all the best that life has to offer. You deserve the best and nothing but the best. Step up to the plate and be the best you that you can be and watch your life manifest blessings for and from the greatest love of all.

I definitely think that you have to learn to love yourself before you can love anything or anyone else.

Before you can’t give love if you don’t have love for yourself. Love starts on thyself.

    Bless you!
I heartfully agree to your post!
I heartfully agree and are in tune to your topic: to change thinking in order to change life. That is a point I’m actually right now working on. This connection between heart – mind, faith – rationality, religion – science.
One of the reasons to make a ‘blog on the pope’ was, that I found some of his old writings on a fleamarket. This big fat book from 1968 was his introduction to christianity (well he didn’t convert me, I’m actually no catholic) and his thoughts and beliefs on ‘Glauben – Vernunft’. Besides I sensed in him a true deep concern and got the impression, that this is a man whom I’d like to know more, etc. because there is a deep love in him, though he is pretty much of an intellectual. I studied his first encyclica and found this love again, that and to which he is pointing out. – Sorry I’m getting long -
Anyhow, hope to see and hear from you soon again.
Pray for you and wish you a blessed week!

  6. Love your self first before love others… Very nice post.
