This morning I received an upsetting message (enclosed below) about a child being shot by Oakland Police. I for one am tired of Police terrorizing our streets, beating and shooting and doing whatever they want. At what point will the war on gangs touch the biggest baddest most powerful gang in America, THE POLICE. They take an oath to serve and protect but instead this is what we get. What are we going to do. Enough is enough!
Police Tried to Kill My Son
My 15 year old was shot on July 3rd, 2007 by an Oakland Police Officer. Is THIS the type of conduct that is JUSTIFIABLE during a pursuit of a CHILD? Why wouldn’t a TRAINED PROFESSIONAL aim LOW as an attempt to disable ANY suspect, instead of a HEADSHOT? My son almost DIED!! BOTH officers are on “ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE”… WHY should the officer get at PAID VACATION for shooting a CHILD? If it was “YOU or ME”, society would have NO MERCY! NOR WOULD THE OAKLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT…”JAIL” would’ve become HOME for US?… and it SHOULD BE for the officer that attempted to take the life of my son. Thank you for taking time to listen to MY SON’s story.. PLEASE keep him in your prayers.

Sorry for you son. I agree with your statements about the police. There should be laws for police too.
No one likes to see a youngster in that condition. Hopefully he gets better and gets his life back on track. Why did he have a gun on him in the first place though? Aren’t there a lot of 15, 16, and 17 year olds kids in Oakland with guns killing people?
I do not know the particulars of this situation as it was sent to me via my myspace account. I live in Southern California so I can’t even speak on gun toting teenagers in Oakland. I don’t know if or why this young man had a gun…I can understand police taking precautions and fearing for their lives however, as the young man’s father points out police are trained or are suppose to be trained to deal with these situations…fatally wounding a Suspect is supposedly a last resort…there have been numerous cases in which shooting to kill has been the 1st resort…
These types of issues speak volumes about humanity as a whole. There seems to be a growing lack of respect for human life period among gun toters, those sworn to serve and protect, and average every day civilians…
TV, movies, video games etc are saturated with humans killing each other… it seems that humans are desensitized. It’s disgusting. I don’t think any one persons life is more valuable than anothers LIFE is a precious gift that we must all value and respect. One day we’ll all get that I hope.
No surprise here… happens everyday all across the globe. When they do it they are "Pro-Active Police"… if we do it we are "Violent Cop-Killers"… so who is left to police the police?
